- a climb up Mt. Shasta with the intrepid crew of Pickles, Gazelle & Marlowe

“Sidetrails #2 - Oregone, baby, gone” features:
- Join the equally intrepid crew of Nabor J, Bearcant, Psycho, Apricots, Squatch and Nate (Nabor J’s brother on his first ever backpacking trip) as they attempt to circumnavigate Mt. Hood - the tallest peak in Oregon on the 42-mile long Timberline Trail. Beauty and hilarity ensue.

- Squatch, SOL and Smooth head out in search of adventure and weirdness in central Oregon with visits to...
... the appropriately-named “Hole-in-the-Ground”. Meteor hit, imploded volcano or Sasquatch Rave Central? Find out.
- the equally appropriately-named “Crack-in-the-Ground”.
- Smooth shares his rope-climbing expertise as he attempts to get SOL and Squatch to the top of Broken Top (just adjacent
to the beautiful and sultry Three Sisters). Whimpering aplenty.

- Mt. Thielsen, the “Lightning Rod of the Pacific Northwest”, is conquered (?) by the fearsome threesome. Shrek and a crown of thorns
encountered on the way down. I know, now even I wanna watch it again.

All that and some roadside taxidermy to boot. Order Sidetrails #2 now!
“Sidetrails #3 - Soooo. Cal.” :
- A trip to Ghost Mountain in the Anza Borrego Desert. Myself, girlscout, 3 Gallon, Cucumber Boy and Baby Beow take a look at what’s left of an “off the grid” living experiment that took place in the 30’s and 40’s. Pre-Hippie Hippies.

- Hippie Longstockings, Tom and myself go in search of the world’s longest curved wooden railroad trestle in the world.
It hasn’t been used in years but it’s cool, man, cool. And, I might add, a pain in the ass to get to.

- Girlscout, Tattoo Joe, Boomer and myself go and check out Burro Schmidt’s Tunnel...a nearly half-mile long burrowing project that took Schimdt 38 years to complete all by his lonesome. Some dynamite helped.

- Plus, a visit to Pacific Crest Trail angel extraordinaires Joe & Terri Anderson along with an inquiry into whether or not the “Musical Road” in Lancaster lives up to its name.
Order Sidetrails #3 now, man, nowwwww!!
“Sidetrails #4 - Washington...with a dash of Idaho” features (clips and stills on home page):
- A jaunt to Tuck & Robins Lakes in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness in central Washington. Led by the intrepid
Smooth and S.O.L. (with whom I climbed Mt. Thielsen in episode #2) the three of us eat huckleberries, encounter
a racist goat and, generally, have a great time.
- Tourist and I venture to Ape Cave near Mt. St. Helens in search of spelunking primates.
- Sarah, Tourist’s good buddy who just moved to Washington, and I head out to the Olympic Peninsula and venture forth on the Hoh River Trail. We half expected to see gnomes and stegasouri on this hike but settled for some elk, an iradescent banana slug and a screaming squirrel with a tick in its cheek.
- Wahoo & Lou are old friends of mine from the Pacific Crest Trail. They now live in Idaho, so we set out for a 3-day trek in the St. Joe National Forest where we find some questionable salsa, a ginormous beaver and a stump we nearly burn to a crisp. Good times.
